Cabbage Roll Casserole
We made this recipe the other day, and it was just delish with
a great aroma! It reminds me of my grandmother-in-law’s Jewish
cabbage soup!
How to tweak for your type:
| • |
Great Bear meal! |
| • |
Lions and Otters omit rice and brown sugar, increase beef
to 2 pounds, and decrease cabbage to ½ cabbage. |
| • |
Monkeys, substitute 1 can white beans and decrease beef
to ½ pound. |
| • |
Giraffes, substitute 2 cans white beans for beef. |
What you’ll need:
| • |
1 lb ground beef, cooked |
| • |
1 medium onion, chopped |
| • |
1 head of cabbage, shredded, some finely, some coarsely |
| • |
2/3 cup uncooked whole grain rice |
| • |
1 cup water |
| • |
2 tsp paprika |
| • |
2 tsp salt |
| • |
½ tsp pepper |
| • |
2 Tbsp brown sugar |
| • |
2 cans (15 oz.) tomatoes (we like Muir Glen Fire Roasted best) |
What to do:
| 1. |
Cook ground beef and onions over medium heat,
stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. |
| 2. |
Mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients in your crock
pot. Cooker will be very full, but cabbage will cook down. |
| 3. |
Cover and cook on low heat 4 to 6 hours or until cabbage
is tender. |
