Managing Cholesterol on the Monkey Diet
The Monkey & Cholesterol
What does it really mean to be a Monkey? It means you should be consuming
a diet that is rich in complex
carbohydrates, including whole grains and vegetables, while keeping your
fat and protein to a minimum. That may seem simple, but when patients come
in for Diet Typing, we dive further into it and discuss how the tests we
look at, blood pH and Glucose
Tolerance Test, tell us what foods your body can process the best. If you’re
a Monkey, your results told us that you function best on a high carbohydrate
diet. This includes hunger satisfaction, energy, ideal weight, and overall
health. If you eat the recommended amounts of foods your risk of having to
deal with the onset of new health concerns should decrease, cholesterol included.
As
a monkey, your diet is primarily vegetarian/plant based with just a small
amount of protein and fat. You just may feel best on vegetarian based fats
and proteins too. Monkeys do not process high fat, animal-based foods as
well as others. Having a lot of cheese and bacon, for example, is not good
choices for a Monkey, and may lead to increasing cholesterol. Try using more
plant-based fats, such as nuts and avocado for your little fat you do have
in your diet. So when choosing your proteins and fats try to stay in the
Monkey frame of mind that more plant based foods are ideal! It’s for
your health!
