Low-Sugar/No Sugar Candies, the Hauser Diet says NO!

As the numbers increase for people with diabetes and obesity, so revived is the "diet" food craze. A recent consumer report by Packaged Facts showed that within four years sales have quadrupled for low-sugar and low-fat candies. But if you really want to lose weight and get healthy we recommend this is one bandwagon you don’t jump on!

Will the real chocolate bar, please step forward!
It seems relatively harmless to walk into a store, pick up a drink and/or a piece of chocolate and leave, right? Before the surge of diet food we would say "yes." Nowadays, it is difficult to find an iced tea, chewing gum, or candy without artificial sweeteners. Even chocolates are now situated next to their "low fat" and "low sugar" twins.

When it comes to candy, be sure to read your labels to avoid unpleasant surprises later. Common complaints that people have with artificial sweeteners include GI upset, rapid heart beat, fatigue, or brain fog, to name a few.

A particular "low sugar" chocolate that we found has a printed warning right on the bag reading "Excess consumption may have a laxative effect." In other words, 'Your body may see this food as a toxin and need to get rid of it fast.'

But these are supposed to help people lose weight!?
Before you load your cart with 4 weeks of chocolate weight loss shakes and "low-sugar" chocolate bars we ask you: "Have you ever lost weight, felt healthy, and 'normal' while eating 'diet' foods?" Most people we see cannot answer yes. These foods do not satisfy us the same way that real food does. Our bodies need real food. Diet foods leave the body feeling deprived and make us feel like outsiders who can’t enjoy normal food. When fighting weight gain, diabetes, and other weight-related disorders, it is important that you are using whole foods to help you regain health and stay at a good weight. Yes, you have to create a calorie deficit to lose weight. Yes, you may have to give up having dessert every night or eating four cups of pasta for dinner. So "low-cal" diet foods seem like such a good deal. But in addition to leaving a person feeling more hungry, you can still easily eat more calories worth of "diet" candies and cakes than eating normal portions of regular food. So ultimately, this booming diet food industry is doing nothing at getting to the root cause of the problem.

The real solution to being overweight goes beyond switching your candy!
If it was easy as switching to sugar free foods to maintain good health and weight, our society would not have the battles with obesity and obesity-related illness. For people who have tried lowering food intake and upping activity, but are still finding it difficult to lose weight, there is still hope before going to a meal replacement lifestyle. You should be seen by a natural medicine specialist to evaluate other culprits you might have never thought of, such as food allergies or hormone imbalances. The point here is that weight problems and weight-related disorders, have multiple causes. Switching to chemical-laden "diet" food and candy does not make the problem go away, but rather can worsen it. So if you are struggling with weight, see a natural medicine specialist for the most scientific approach to better health.
