It’s Okay to Have your Fruit and Eat it Too!

Trying to enjoy those last juicy fruits of the summer? There are some good ones left. Just thinking about it is making my mouth watering! Let’s explore some tasty ways to make up a fruit salad that agrees with your Hauser Diet Type. Just saying the words "fruit salad" just sounds so healthy, doesn’t it? But as those of you who have done Diet Typing know, we can’t all indulge as much as we want to into those ripe blueberries, plums, and apples. We regularly get questions about fruit, because the Hauser Diet does not allow an endless amount of it, and in fact strictly limits fruit in a couple of the diets. But if your Diet Type just happens to be a Bear or Otter don’t think you should avoid this wonderful concoction, you just have to get creative!

Otters and Bears:
Use fruit only as part of a larger mix of "salad" ingredients, including: plain yogurt, shredded coconut, and an assortment of nuts and seeds. What you are doing here is adding FAT to the salad, which you are allowed more of than just straight sugary fruit. If a Lion were to eat a fruit salad, this is the ideal way to prepare it. Even sprinkle a little cinnamon on top for added flavor! However, all Lions should know that fruit is not a regular option on the diet. Unlike what you may have previously thought, regular fruit can do your body more harm than good.

Monkeys and Giraffes:
You should grab the fruit salad before the Otters and Bears start adding all of those fattening (fattening for you!) foods into your perfectly good fruit salad. As you know, Monkey and Giraffe Diets are allowed more fruit and sugar. So adding fats such as nuts, is not recommended for your fruit salad. If you like a creamy fruit salad, adding a little nonfat yogurt is the best option. Otherwise, just enjoy the chopped up fruits mixed together with a pinch of sea salt sprinkled on top to bring out the flavor.

If you hurry you can still catch some of those farmer’s markets! Enjoy!
