Frying Pans and Microwaves – Should You Be Concerned?
We spend a lot of time thinking about the food we eat. Who knows how much
time in a day we spend thinking about what we’re going to eat, what
would the best thing for us, and why.
Looking for information on foods and
they’re nutrients is something
a lot of people do because they feel it is important and good for their health
to know what they’re putting in their bodies. However, we don’t
think very many of us think about the tools we use to actually prepare and
cook our food.
How many of you have a set of those great Teflon pans at home?
It’s
perfect, nothing sticks and they’re easy to clean right?! Well, just
as the foods that are the quickest and easiest to prepare are usually the
ones that are bad for us, it might be the same case with cookware.
It’s
all about the food… and how you cook it!
The Hauser Diet isn’t
just about eating the right combination of carbs, protein, and fat. It’s
about putting the best foods and nutrients in your body possible, and keeping
all of the toxic stuff that isn’t necessary
and that can possibly cause damage out of the body. Unfortunately, manufactures
are always trying to out do each other by making products, food included
that will appeal to a majority of the population. They come up the quickest,
easiest products to use in our fast paced world. The problem is that most
of the time this means putting things into food and other items that can
be harmful to the body, either with short term or long term usage.
In order
to do your best on your Hauser Diet, it is best to pay attention to exactly
what is going in your body. This is why using certain cooking methods and
tools are better than others. Here is what we suggest to use and what not
to use:
Limit Your Use Of:
Aluminum or Teflon: These types of cookware can release
elements that are toxic to the body. They interact with the food once heated
and release elements into the air and food!
Microwaves: Microwaving tends
to alter nutrients in a way that can limit our ability to absorb them. This
can also cause the production of byproducts that may not be able to be properly
broken down by our bodies.
Try These Tips:
Cook on the stove and in the oven: You can boil, poach, sauté, bake,
or broil. These methods of cooking can be a little slower than the microwave,
but the quality of the food will be much better!
Choose materials that are not
harmful to us: We like stainless steal or ceramic/glass cookware the best.
This will limit your risk of taking in dangerous chemicals and elements!
Grill: Use it all year round! What’s better than cooking over an open
flame?! Char some red bell peppers and a piece of fish for a very quick,
healthy meal.
Crock Pot: This is a great method for those of us who think
we don’t
have time to cook. You can cook your dinner while you’re at work. Throw
in your meat and veggies in the morning and dinner will be ready when you
get home!
If you understand the food your Hauser Diet requires, then move
onto the next step of preparing it the best way possible. Now go get cooking!
